Creative Arts
Art
Art, design and photography at Collegiate enhances and encourages students’ creative responses by developing artistic skills in an expressive and intuitive way. Using themes that challenge, we nurture creative, free-thinking individuals whose work is intensely personal and reflective.
In our spacious, purpose-built art studios, IT suite of industry-standard software (Photoshop and Illustrator) and the darkroom facility, students experiment across media, from digital and photograph to printmaking and sculpture.
Design Technology
Innovate. Inspire. Create. Problem solving is at the heart of our design and technology programme, arming our students with the skills they need to be successful in the 21st century. Together, we examine principles and the importance of design and technology in the world around them.
In discussing design principles, learning basic construction and gaining CAD (computer-aided design) skills, students deconstruct and analyse the world within and outside the classroom environment.
At Key Stage 4, GCSE students take ownership of their personal resistant materials or graphic products project, further developing their independent learning expertise. They select their own brief, design and make a product, from start to finish, employing originality and creativity every step of the way, whatever the product. At our annual exhibition, we showcase and celebrate each design, whether it's a coffee table or range of packaging and advertising.
