What we offer
At the beginning of Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), our enriched Pre-Prep curriculum leads children along a path of discovery. Our stimulating lessons tap into children’s natural curiosity, so they develop fluent reading and numeracy skills in a creative and thought-provoking environment.
In laying the all-important foundations for the rest of your child’s educational journey, we work in small classes, making the best use of our dedicated Forest School and organising educational visits to challenge and inspire.
The Year 1 and Year 2 curriculum fosters that love of learning in broad, balanced and exciting lessons that emphasise literacy and numeracy in largely topic-based work. Yes, we follow the National Curriculum, but we are not tethered to it – lessons support an organic arrival at knowledge, which prepares children for lifelong learning.
With large, sunlit classrooms designed specifically for this age group, our ever-popular Forest School and inspiring trips and visits, children get a well-rounded education in many environments. But our most anticipated excursion is the Year 2 residential.
By the end of Year 2, children are ready to step into Year 3, comfortable they can perform on stage, develop their musical interests, study a language and build their ICT skills. Class teachers collaborate with Teaching Assistants in all aspects of the curriculum, monitoring progress with formal and informal assessments.
Highlights of our Week
- Art Room – with natural light flooding in and a wonderful array of resources, it’s time to get creative.
- Cooking Room – it’s never to early to learn some cookery skills in our dedicated teaching kitchen.
- ICT Suite – computers and iPads are regularly used to support research and learning across topics.
- PE and Games – making the most of the beautiful playing fields, courts and AstroTurf a short walk away on the Senior School site.
- Lunch Time – from Year 1 children head to the Senior School dining room for lunch with other Prep School year groups.
- Library Time – a dedicated Pre-Prep library packed with age-appropriate books for children to enjoy.
- Golden Time – a fun and rewarding way to end the week for Year 2.

Key timings and information
- Wrap-around care available from 7.30am.
- School day starts at 8.15am.
- School day ends at 3.50pm.
- Wrap-around care available until 6.00pm.
