Years 3 - 6
What we offer
Form tutors remain at the heart of learning from Year 3 to Year 6, both to nurture our community spirit and prepare children for the next step in their learning journey.
To find balance in their learning, we encourage all children to explore their strengths in music, drama, languages, sport and art. School sport fixtures, trips, residential visits and clubs enhance school life and each child’s enjoyment of their community.
We recognise successes and achievements with the reward of house points, with the top earners each week being presented with a badge by their class teacher. Worker of the week awards and Pupil of Merit certificates are shared in our traditional weekly celebration assemblies, which encourage children to thrive as part of our caring community.
Arranged into houses – Aldington, Dolphin, Kings and Roundway – pupils work side by side with children from all key stages to become articulate, respectful, tolerant and supportive of those around them. As children move up the school and mature, they take on responsibility, including for some year 6 pupils, serving as House Captain, which naturally enlivens their confidence.
In Year 5 and Year 6 is where we start the gentle transition to Year 7, preparing our pupils for the exciting challenges that lie ahead. Much of the core teaching includes preparation for the Senior School Entrance Test; however, we aim to accomplish this with a calm, stress-free approach. The message is clear, if the children work hard and do their best, we are confident that they will achieve the successes they deserve.
